Bach Musica NZ presents: Beethoven & Perkins (world premiere) - 26 May | Auckland Town Hall Posted: Fri May 10, 2019 7:02 pm 26 May | 5pm - 7.30pm | Auckland Town Hall Recent events in New Zealand and the world are a clear indication that times are changing, presenting the next generation with various challenges to their future. With this concert Bach Musica NZ is highlighting the importance of music for young people and the ways in which music can raise awareness of key social issues. This evening is about the past, present and the future presenting a world premiere of a NZ composition 'The Birds' including a pre-concert talk with the composer Andrew Perkins. The winner of the 2018 Wallace National Junior Piano Competition, 14-year-old Ashani Waidyatillake will open the night playing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No 2. This concert is for the next generation of musicians, featuring mezzo-sopranos Jessica Wells and Dilys Fong, tenor Harry Grigg, and baritone Angus Simmons. Conducted by the formidable Rita Paczian.
