Straitjacket Fits announce support acts for tour

The Straitjacket Fits embark on a national tour next week, the legendary New Zealand band’s first shows in more than a decade.

Three of the country’s most exciting acts have been invited to share the stage with the veteran rockers.

Die! Die! Die! will play two of the Auckland shows and the Straitjacket Fits’ two South Island shows including Dunedin b.net station Radio One’s 25th Birthday Party at Sammys. The acclaimed young Dunedin-based band has just completed recording an album in Chicago with producer Steve Albini.

Continuing the Dunedin thread, High Dependency Unit, another band who made their name coming from the home of so many Flying Nun acts over the years, will play with the Straitjacket Fits in two shows at Wellington’s Bar Bodega.

Supporting the Straitjacket Fits in Auckland next Friday will be Cassette, flying in from their Melbourne base where they have just completed recording an album.

The line-ups in full:

- Straitjacket Fits supported by Die Die Die – The Studio, Auckland, on Thursday 21 April and Saturday 23 April

- Straitjacket Fits supported by Cassette – The Studio, Auckland, on Friday 22 April

- Straitjacket Fits supported by HDU – Bar Bodega, Wellington, on Friday 29 April and Saturday 30 April

- Straitjacket Fits supported by Die Die Die – The Civic, Christchurch, on Friday 6 May

- Straitjacket Fits supported by Die Die Die – Sammys, Dunedin, on Saturday 7 May
