She has been described by KiwisListen as both “a breath of fresh air” and “a retro time lapse.” Her latest release, Hot Guy in the Corner, has the character of early teeny-pop sensations like Nikki Webster, with modern production inspired by the current disco trend. Aidan produced the bare-bones of the track at home, after bopping to some Kylie Minogue and wanting to emulate that irresistible groove. Aidan worked remotely with US-based producer Ash Kailath, who’s worked with the likes of Conkarah, to finish the track. The accompanying music video and its gym setting, shot by Ben Stewart, shows Aidan’s love for bright clothing and all things that just feel happy. To those who know Aidan, it’s no surprise the hot guy in this story represents God, the greatest mysterious object of her curiosity. Beginning her career as a solo artist at the start of 2020 with the release of Holy House, Aidan has performed in Wellington numerous times at the legendary Valhalla venue, supporting acts Miss Leading, Seralynne, and PolarisRadio, as well as entertaining at Napier’s iconic music venue The Cabana. While studying classical viola at university, she developed her songwriting and production skills, and is known for writing several songs, notably Brain Love, Day by Day, and Into the Battlefield for Studio 316, an international worship music collective on SoundCloud. Aidan would like to thank Club Kelburn for letting her use the club to film the music video for Hot Guy in the Corner. |
