About time... Although I think they are starting to run out of material... I think they need to employ some metal head who knows his sh*t, and bring all out all the underground bands, rather then limiting themselves to the relativly well known bands.

problem with that is a lot of underground metal bands dont have videos or the videos are too bad quality or hard to get hold of in nz.

theres so many great nz metal bands it would be great if they could make videos as well as great albums but since nz on air only funds commercial music that makes it more difficult, atho 8-foot seem to manage it somehow. i think it would help the nz metal bands heaps if they could get some exposure on tv.

Yeah, NZ on Air is sh*t... ...and I suppose that's our main problem.

8 Foot mite as well be mainstream, now they are expanding to add industrial and hard rock. You may aswell turn into another amped, amazing how much influence NZon Air have on what's being shown, and Sh*t all over everything.

Before you know it, the majority of the songs will be by bands like shehad, with the odd pantera song...

What metal fans want to hear is the more extreme side of things, black/death/doom metal... And not nessessarily from New Zealand. There are so many great bands out there...

i thought they got rid of the rockshop board?? or is it hidden away?

That would be something for us to aim for. Some decent recordings and a cheesy video would be great. They should show the Shakhan and El Shlong videos more often.

A rock shop board you say....

When the old one got removed I went in there and said how it was such a cool thing, and they should put another one up...

They said they didn't have the space, but would look into it...

I haven't heard or seen anything since....

Let me know if you find out anymore...

Think I might swing by tomorrow and have a look myself...

Just wanted to put one more line with dots at the end....

Sorry this is late...

----
Steve from The Steelmill, C4 Music Televisions metal show, here. I am pleased to announce the return of The Steelmill to C4s’ 2006 line up on Saturday the 11th of February at 1am.

Due to the response, both good and bad, to two shows we played last year we are going to kick off the new season by repeating these shows in their entirety. Show number 5 from last year which consisted mainly of black metal will screen on the 11th. The following week on the 18th of February will be a repeat of show number 11 which was a power metal special.

This year we also hope to broaden the musical scope of the show to include harder alt rock and more industrial. We are also keen to see some more material from the great range of New Zealand bands that are out there. So if you do have a video you would like us to show send it on beta, DVD, mini DV or DV Cam to:

The Steelmill
C4 Music Television
Priv ate Bag 92624
Auckland

Hope you can all join us for a good bit of head banging and and good old goat throwing.

Cheers

Steve

Ok - so this doesn't really belong here anymore, but...

Went into the Rock Shop in Welly, the board is located in the middle of the shop now - it's quite a lot smaller than the old one though.

The video flyer is definitely there, and says there are starting packages from $500 ... which I think is a pretty good price. Not sure what that gets you though...
