Jared Wrennall’s (Steriogram) band Dead Favours erupted onto the NZ airwaves in 2016 with their chart-topping debut single Dig and they are now celebrating the release of their second album Riffing & Yelling with a nationwide tour. Produced by Six60’s Chris Mac, Riffing & Yelling, will be released in a two-part series. The first part 'Side A' will release on Friday 21 May and 'Side B' in Q4 of 2021.
After quickly establishing themselves as a household name on the NZ rock scene with a succession of hit singles Dig, High Flying and On Your Own, Dead Favours will be bringing tunes from 'Side A' including the new single Move On which is out today, alongside notable favourites from their first album Misbehaviour, frontman Jared Wrennall states, “This album was written whilst going through a break-up. Though it’s kind of personal, it’s also on a level that many people will be able to relate to. It’s dark but it’s light, it’s sad but it’s happy. It’s an album I never thought I’d write, but I’m glad I did.”
Dead Favours will play:
Auckland at Anthology Lounge Friday 28th May
Tauranga at Voodoo Lounge Saturday 29th May
Wellington’s Valhalla Thursday 3rd June
Christchurch Darkroom Friday 4th June
Tickets available for all gigs from Eventfinda.
Inspiring new energy into the band, Alex Elvis better known as Skinny Hobos frontman has recently joined the band on bass for the album writing process and the Dead Favours winter tour alongside frontman Jared Wrennall, drummer Charlie Smith and guitarist Kyle Wetton.
Dead Favours have shared the stage with some of New Zealand’s finest acts including Villainy, Shihad and Racing, scoring significant support slots opening for some of the biggest rock acts in the world including the likes of Royal Blood, Wolfmother and Halestorm and been regulars at the ever-great Jim Beam Homegrown Festival in Wellington for the last three years.
Their 2019 debut album produced by Shihad’s Tom Larkin debuted at number 1 on Apple music. It was packed with 10 commercially viable and riff tastic songs that combined catchy hooks with head banging riffs that saw audiences across the country both connect with and rock out to as they toured after its release.
