A Lovin', Lovin' Groove
Posted: Fri Jul 1, 2005 10:40 am
Wellington feel good funk outfit OdESSA are gearing up for the release of their debut album and have asked local acts Ghostplane and Lady Luck to join their lovin' groove and to get the party started at Bar Bodega this Friday night.

In the two years since forming, OdESSA have played over a hundred shows, producing an invigorating mix of pop-funk feel good-rock. OdESSA have performed with Australian funksters Cat Empire, electronic kiwi extraordinaire Flash Harry, local popstars Goldenhorse and at legendary Wellington street parties such as the Cuba Carnival and Newtown Festival. OdESSA return to the Bodge to administer a live act leading up to their soon-to-be released debut album, Oak Park Avenue.

Wellington indie outfit Ghostplane create an experimental indie rock/pop sound with a side dish of dark alt-country thrown in for good measure. With three vocalists, acoustic and electric guitars, miscellaneous semi-functioning electronic devices, lopsided rhythms, old drum machines they've definitely got their own sound going. Ghostplane were recently nominated for the bNet Album of the Year
(2004) for their debut album, The Panther Valley Country Club and have toured with legendary New Zealand acts such as Dimmer and The Verlaines. Newly signed to Arch Hill Recordings, Ghostplane are set to release their new album Beneath the Sleepy Lagoon in August this year.

Wellington's Lady Luck are just under a year old and have already found that their blend of rockin' dirty-disco anthems are proving popular. Their debut single 'Disco Disco' topped both the National Indie Chart and the Radio Active Top 11 earlier this year. Lady Luck are known for their debauched live antics and sound which attracts listeners from all musical strands. The lucks have shared the stage with international acts such as post-punk outfit The Rogers Sisters (NY), country songstress Holly Golightly (UK) and rocked out alongside kiwi acts such as rap'n'roll duo Coco Solid, electro-goth rockers The Fanatics, punk-hardcore outfit This Night Creeps and rock'n'bluesters The Accelerants.
