John Fogerty - The Long Road Home Tour Posted: Sun Sep 18, 2005 10:50 am The Frontier Touring Company are proud to present the legendary John Fogerty in concert downunder as part of his Rockin’ New Zealand: The Long Road Home World Tour. The New Zealand leg of the tour will feature a combination of indoor concerts and an outdoor concert in New Plymouth, and fans nationwide will be given the opportunity to be wowed by the great man himself come November. One of rock music’s finest, John Fogerty is a musical master. He rose to fame in the late 1960s as frontman for popular roots-rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival. As the heart and soul of Creedence, Fogerty’s visionary songwriting and skillful guitar-work produced an abundance of hits including nine Top Ten singles and eight gold albums, and won the quartet an army of followers. Fogerty’s solo career has proved similarly fruitful. Since Creedence’s break up in 1972, he has released six solo albums and sold-out tour after tour. He recently played alongside Pearl Jam, REM and Bruce Springsteen at the acclaimed Vote for Change Tour and has just completed a series of highly successful American shows with John Mellencamp. And, as critics are implying, his performances seem to be getting better with age: “Songs were nailed down by guitar lines that sharpened their 1950’s models… every guitar riff was still carved in steel and burnished with moonshine, and Fogerty’s voice was still a visionary backwoods howl.” New York Times “Fogerty doesn’t hit the mark; he blows through it… His voice tears across the words, biting with southern drawl, as his fingers dance through the familiar riffs… His guitar, like his voice, never misses a note.” PopMatters One of the many attractions of a Fogerty concert is the set list. On his recent US tour, Fogerty’s sets were sprinkled with Creedence classics, including 'Bad Moon Rising', 'Down On The Corner', 'Have You Ever Seen The Rain?', 'Hey Tonight', 'Green River', 'Fortunate Son', 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine', 'Who’ll Stop The Rain?' and 'Proud Mary'. Fans at Fogerty’s forthcoming shows down-under can also expect to hear songs from Creedence’s impressive back catalogue, along with tracks from his solo career. Hurry to get your tickets to see John Fogerty in concert. With an artist of such calibre tickets are certainly not going to hang around for long!
