EdgeFest 06 - On Sale Now Posted: Thu Jan 26, 2006 5:17 pm Tickets are now on sale for EdgeFest, The Edge radio station’s annual one-day music festival. It’s sold out in previous years and EdgeFest ’06 is set to be no exception. With a huge line-up of acts across a wide range of musical styles, EdgeFest will be held in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch in March, where the very best of local and international talent will gather for four day-long feasts of incredible music. Among the acts headlining this year are The Presidents of the United States of America, who will return to New Zealand after a sold-out Auckland only concert in October 2005. Best known for their hit singles ‘Lump’, ‘Peaches’, the new single ‘Some Postman’, the Presidents will perform songs from their latest album, ‘Love Everybody’, which features the band’s trademark formula of ironic-punk, with catchy hooks and gleeful goofiness. Also here for the Edgefest-ivities will be Thirsty Merc, the hot new Australian-based trio, whose recent single, ‘In the Summertime’ has been a summer hit here in New Zealand and who’re set for a big year in 2006. Elemeno P are no strangers to EdgeFest having been there in 2004. They’ll be back this year with their signature blend of guitar power-pop and big choruses that are an invitation to a party where the summer is endless and school or work is but a distant memory. Savage was the name on everyone’s lips last year with the launch of his solo career and a couple of runaway hit tunes. He’ll be at EdgeFest to perform his songs including the smash ‘They Don’t Know’ featuring Aaradhna. Goodnight Nurse, Auckland’s premier punk-rock trio will be at EdgeFest to administer songs from their just-released debut album, ’Always and Never’. Energetic, catchy, loud, melodic and ballsy, Goodnight Nurse, will provide the perfect mix of irresponsible punk, heart-pounding rock and pop you’ll find yourself humming three days later. David Dallas (aka Con Psy) and producer 41 (Nick Maclaren) are the two-man team known as Frontline. The combination of Dave's masterful lyrical ability and 41's superbly crafted beats make for some of the most intelligent and vital hip-hop music to arise from these shores. With a new album, ‘Borrowed Time’, out on P-Money’s Dirty Records label, the beats from the boys from Frontline are not to be missed at EdgeFest. Another EdgeFest veteran and favourite is Vodafone Music Award winning hip-hop producer and DJ extraordinaire, P-Money who’s renowned for rocking clubs the world over. P-Money won’t be playing his set alone tho, he’s bringing with him a special mystery guest and together they’re bound to get things shaking. Nicely rounding off the line-up and also returning to EdgeFest for 2006 are Nesian Mystik. One of the biggest success stories in New Zealand music, there’s no resisting their infectious and catchy Polynesian style of pop, hip-hop and R&B. And it doesn’t end there. There are more acts to be announced for EdgeFest ’06 so stay tuned for the full line-up in the coming weeks.
