Community Day Out 2006
Posted: Thu Mar 2, 2006 8:36 pm
COMMUNITY DAY OUT 2006, the music event that attracts and unites people of our community, is so close you can almost feel the sweet musically tunes of some of Aoetearoa’s finest musicians wash over you!!!

Community Day Out is heading back to the Paeroa Domain, Saturday March 18th 2006. Bring along the family, blankets to stake your spot in front of the stage and lots of positive vibes for a great day out.

NGA IWI FM 92.2, in association with TRUST WAIKATO, are proud to release the following details of Community Day Out 2006…

LIVE MUSIC
As previous years have shown, there’s an irresistible pull to our event, thanks largely to the promise of live music and the appeal of it being “practically in your own back yard”. This year is no different, with a fantastic line-up already confirmed…

Nik Carlson
Nik Carlson performed in Country Music Awards around New Zealand for sixteen years.

When New Zealand’s highest rating television music show, NZ Idol went to air, Nik, watched by thousands of viewers throughout the county, shot to Idol stardom.

Nik recorded a version of his favorite song from the Idol show, 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love', originally by UK band The Darkness, which is in stores now! Come check Nik out LIVE @ Community Day Out!

Chong Nee
One of New Zealand's most in demand Hip Hop & RnB producers, with production credits over the years with artists such as Che Fu, Dei Hamo [with whom he co-wrote NZ's biggest selling single of 2004 'We Gon Ride'], Dave Dobbyn, AKA Brown, and the Deceptikonz to name a few.

Multi-instrumentalist John Chong Nee has finally taken the steps to produce his own solo album, out sometime this year. And Nga Iwi FM welcomes Chong Nee to the stage @ Community Day Out 2006!!!

Billy TK Jnr
New Zealand's hottest blues-rock-guitarist Billy TK Jnr - son of Kiwi Legend Billy TK Snr, has been busy playing to packed houses over the summer, in support of his debut album 'Three Sides To A Mirror'.

He has had some great playlisting on radio from his singles 'See Your Smile' and 'Too Shy' as well as TV support for his 'See Your Smile' video.
Billy achieved acclaim with tours of New Zealand and the USA in the 90s and early 2000s and has also played alongside musical greats like The Neville Brothers and George Thorogood. See what all the fuss is about, for yourself, at Nga Iwi FM’s C.D.O.

Player Park
Player Park was formed in Paeroa, February 2003 by chance, when Carlos Marsh aka C traxx & Carmen Steel, were introduced to each other to record a number of demo tracks for Mai media, then Andrea Roma joined the group in late 2003.

They’ve supported acts like Nelly and Akon, toured with Fast Crew in Australia, and shared stages with the likes of The Black Seeds, Che Fu and Nesian Mystic.

Their Moto is “We are players of life not playas of people”. So come play with PLAYER PARK on March 18 @ the Paeroa Domain.

Other scheduled acts include Legendary Country singer Dennis Marsh; Local rapper S.T.8; Acoustic maestro Te Reo Takiwa-Dunn; Local entertainers Charmaine and the Tones, and each day we’re bombarded with more artists requesting to come and perform at C.D.O ’06… Check out www.ngaiwifm.co.nz for any fresh announcements.

STALL & FOOD SITES/EXHIBITIONS
A great variety of Kai will be on offer this year, whether you’re craving a bit of hangi through to Mussel fritters and hot-dogs or maybe looking to indulge that sweet-tooth with a bit of candy floss or ice cream, it’ll all be available on site on the day. Various information and exhibition stalls will be on display, plus for the first time Community Day Out brings you the Nga Iwi FM Kidz Zone, with jeep rides and Ferris wheel fun, as well as face painting, bouncy castle madness and other activities to keep our tamariki entertained… But make sure they keep one eye on the main stage, to be into win spot prizes through-out the day.
