Donny Osmond postpones NZ tour

Donny Osmond has postponed his New Zealand tour because of a family illness.

Osmond was to have played two concerts – in Auckland on May 9 and Wellington on May 10.

A spokeswoman for Osmond said the singer's mother-in-law had been battling cancer for the past couple years.

"Sadly her condition is failing and the doctors anticipate her passing is likely during the time Donny was scheduled to be on tour," she said.

"He feels his place is with his family during this difficult time, and wishes to convey his sincere apologies for any inconvenience this unfortunate turn of events may cause."

The rescheduled concert dates will be at the end of July.

From 1976-79, Donny Osmond and his sister Marie hosted the television programme The Donny and Marie Show, which their older brothers helped produce.
