Between the hours 12pm-1pm of a chosen REGULAR DAY during the Academic Calendar (Semester 2), Unitec New Zealand proposes to create an ‘academic window’ allowing an opportunity for regular daytime concert event to take place weekly or bi-weekly on campus without disturbance to teaching programmes. (Dates, times and locations through USU Events Manager)

Objective:
To create an event for Unitec New Zealand’s Mt Albert Campus that will maximise awareness and participation of the student and staff body.

Concept:
A small to medium scale on-campus gig, showcasing local Auckland up and coming talent, presented by the USU in association with Go West Musicworks & supported by JigSaw Music, to:

The wider Auckland Community
Incoming and Current students
Local organisations / groups

Through utilisation of the concert event, in combination with:
Market stalls, food and beverage spots and local clubs/societies activity on site.

Details:
This proposed event would follow on from the conclusion of the 2nd Semester Events Orientation period for 2006. (July 24-2Cool
An event that would appeal to a wide demographic of all ages and cultures.
The local community to be made welcome to attend.
Transport will be arranged for Waitakere staff/students to be involved on the Mt Albert Campus.
Media agencies would be notified and radio station presence would be encouraged to allow for even greater exposure for Acts, the supporter (Go West) and the student association (USU) and any other associated parties.

Proposed Event Format
11.00am: Continuous Market stalls, information sites, and food from 11am – 4pm
11.45pm: Unitec academic activity gradually ceases– All staff and students encouraged to attend the chosen Campus location.
12:00pm: Formal welcome by USU on the main stage prior to the major event
12:05pm: 1st act
12:25pm: change over
12:30pm: 2nd act
12:50pm: Wrap up
12:55pm: Concert completed
1.00pm: Academic Activity recommences (where applicable)

Event Concert
An Auckland-based ‘up-and-coming’ act and the opportunity granted to have a ‘Unitec-produced’ act or other such, as the featured warm-up.
Peripherals
Surrounding this concert event would be a number of market stalls, Unitec information sites, and purchased food and beverage.
Radio/TV station promotional teams would also be offered the opportunity to attend.
