The Living End
Posted: Fri Sep 8, 2006 3:49 pm
It’s been 5 years since THE LIVING END last headlined their own shows in New Zealand, with international demand for their live performances propelling them around the globe on endless touring schedules.

The Living End are very pleased to announce their return to New Zealand for the final shows of the STATE OF EMERGENCY album world tour to perform shows in Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch late October/early November.

Having built a solid following in New Zealand, The Living End played the Southern Amp festival in Christchurch last November, the main stage at Big Day Out this year, followed by the nationwide Edgefest in March on the back of their top ten NZ single Wake Up. The Living End’s current NZ single is Nothing Lasts Forever.

The Melbourne trio’s four album out-put includes 1998’s self titled The Living End, 2000’s Roll On, 2003’s Modern Artillery and now State Of Emergency.

In the ten years since The Living End first exploded on to the international music scene with their catchy punk/rockabilly hybrid style, they have racked up three ARIA awards, a quintuple-platinum album, two platinum and five gold records, with State Of Emergency debuting at #1 in the Australian charts.

While the band’s recorded work has been embraced in platinum proportions, it’s their tight, fast, powerful and thoroughly exhilarating live performance with those massive riffs you could drive a truck through which the band are most renowned. Armed with this killer live set The Living End has successfully made inroads to Japan and the extremely difficult US market through the likes of the Warped tour.

The band’s ability to retain the older end of their audience while at the same time constantly replenishing the bottom end with younger fans has catapulted them up the ladder to become the flag bearers of high-energy rock ‘n roll.

The Living End - Chris Cheney (lead guitar & vocals), Scott Owen (double bass) and Andy Strachan (drums) will rip the paint from the walls with their blistering, sweat-drenched live shows, which include all-ages gigs in Christchurch and Auckland.

Special guests GOODNIGHT NURSE will join The Living End on all NZ shows.
