The Squire for Hire is back on tour in New Zealand with new material from his forthcoming album.

New Zealand’s most well known jazzer joined the NZSO and American soul legend Marlena Shaw for a capacity audience last December at the Aotea Centre where they did a live rendition of their tune ‘Squire for Hire’ – albeit this time with the backing of the 85 piece symphony orchestra!

Fresh from a 3 month stint in Europe where he performed in Russia, Amsterdam, Italy London and Ireland, Nathan will join fath er Kevin Haines on bass, Ron Samsom drums and Kevin Field on keyboards for a seated, intimate style gig.

Nathan’s most recent album Life Time featuring the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, was heralded With rave reviews, and Helen Mayhew on the UK’s BBC Ra dio 2 described it as “a stunning and Accomplished album that showcases Nathan’s vocal talents.”

Nathan’s trademark flute and sax work also graced Jamiroquai’s last album Dynamite , which has sold over half million copies world wide.

However it’s the nex t projects that Nathan is most excited about, and he has been working hard collaborating with local musicians and singers on solo album number six, due out in April 07. “Already this album is feeling good, and it feels like the last 10 years of working and writing are coming together for me on this one” he says. The band will be performing several new compositions, some of which will end up on Nathan’s new album. “We are still seeing what works live, but with jazz and improvisation it’s a great luxury to be able to be free within the framework of the song, and really take it to the next level”.
