Dimmer Shows This Weekend Posted: Tue Nov 28, 2006 11:16 am Post-Straitjacket Fits poster boy, post modern neo-rocker, post dinner rock show at the Leigh Sawmill Café, post it on your myspace blog.... Here's the news about two exciting shows headlined by the increasingly spacerocktastic new Dimmer line-up. And a word about the nice price at the bottom. Shayne Carter's Dimmer (you know, the one playing the old Dimmer stuff and the new album tracks with the HDU drummer and the Punches people) are joined by a couple of other notable acts at two upcoming shows at Auckland's Galatos Theatre on Friday 1 December and the Leigh Sawmill Café on Saturday 2 December. Jakob are hitching a ride to bring their UFO rock up from the Hawkes Bay for these shows. They have a stunning new album out themselves on Midium and are fresh off the plane from a brief Aussie November tour. The Ruby Suns will bring a little more psychedelic pop to the proceedings to ease the sonic density of the night. These guys have got their own self-titled album coming out in England and Europe on the Memphis Industries label (we knew it as the L'il Chief release Ryan McPhun and the Ruby Suns). And spinning appropriate recordings out into crowd between bands will be the Kingsland Vinyl Appreciation Society. If that doesn't all add up to a night out worthy of clamping your moon boots on and taking a ride to the other side, then we just hope that you are going to spend the night at home, stoned and listening to your Spacemen 3 bootleg Taking Drugs To Make Music To Take Drugs To. Dimmer, with Jakob, the Ruby Suns and the Kingsland Vinyl Appreciation Society Friday 1 December - Galatos Saturday 2 December - Leigh Sawmill Cafe Tickets available now for $20 +b/fee from Ticketek, Real Groovy and the Sawmill |
