Mon Ami and the 'Debut' Album Release Tour
Posted: Tue Jan 2, 2007 10:22 am
During January '07 Mon Ami will be touring the release of 'Debut' through the South Island. This follows a successful North Island tour during December and is the beginning of what promises to be a very busy year for the Wellington Trio.

Having completed a North Island leg in December which included Auckland, Wellington, Raglan, Mount Manganui, Masterton and Taihape, Mon Ami go south in January and will be appearing in Christchurch, Dunedin, Nelson, Queenstown, Wanaka and Picton.

"Touring these smaller centers has been fantastic. It has given us the opportunity to connect with "real" New Zealand and allowed us to see some of the best parts of the country. I feel our music has a connection with grass roots New Zealand as much as urban Aotearoa".

2006 saw Mon Ami share the stage with some of NZ's finest musicians including Greg Johnson, Fly My Pretties, The Phoenix Foundation and Elemeno P.

With qualities likened to Crowded House and Simon & Garfunkel, Mon Ami is a fusion of folk, country and rock intertwined around drifting vocal melodies and harmonies, harmonicas and quirky guitar riffs, softened by warm piano rhythms and searing fiddle lines. They are distinctive and original with a fan base that spans the generations.

"Finely crafted, romantic and lyrical – a stunning Debut" - Liz Barry – Homegrown on National Radio

"Mon Ami has the courage of angels; meltingly tender and perfectly simple – I love it" - Jane Campion

"Debut is a toe-tapping, melodic gem that both surprises and satisfies, and is destined to be the soundtrack of summer for those fortunate enough to own a copy" **** - Dave Burgess - Wellingtonian

"'Butterflies on my Cheek' made me feel like a child making animals from clouds whereas "The Bar" leaves you older and more mature" - Chris Titford - Groove Guide
