Chili Peppers announce NZ show
Posted: Wed Feb 21, 2007 5:12 pm
Fresh from storming the Grammy Awards, where the band picked up four gongs, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are coming to New Zealand for a single show in Auckland.

It has been five years since the Chilis performed in New Zealand at Auckland's Western Springs stadium and Christchurch's QEII park.

They will play Auckland's Vector Arena on April 21.

In a career spanning 20 years and nine albums, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have accumulated more than 50 million album sales world-wide, with two albums - 1999's Californication and 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik - going multi-platinum.

Last week, the Chilis collected four Grammy Awards from six nominations, including best rock album, best rock performance, best rock song and best boxed/limited edition package.

Tickets for the band's Auckland gig go on sale to Visa card-holders on February 28 through ticketmaster.co.nz, and to the public on March 5.

Official Press Release

Many of the gods, goddesses, angels, demons & elementals of the universe have conspired to send messages from beyond through the Red Hot Chili Peppers for the current civilization. Now these messages have taken the materialized form of the most visually compelling, musically gratifying, explosive live performances our earth bound souls are likely to experience.

Inspirational, influential and innovative, Red Hot Chili Peppers are the band that many others aspire to be. They have played with light, darkness, sound, silence, form, air and space to make music that plays with the listener, whilst simultaneously engaging and invigorating – promising more and always delivering.

Long heralded as one of the best live concert experiences one can have, these supreme Gods of Funk return to New Zealand after a 5 year absence to once again ignite the Antipodean fires of musical appreciation.

In a career spanning 20 years and nine albums, the Grammy award-winning, genre-defying RHCP have accumulated over 50 million album sales world-wide. Their most highly acclaimed output includes the multi-platinum releases Californication (1999) and Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991), which gave the world classic tracks Breaking The Girl, Give It Away, and Under the Bridge.

Their album, Stadium Arcadium, features the hit singles Dani California, Tell Me Baby and Snow and is a phenomenal four times platinum in New Zealand, having debuted atop the RIANZ charts in typical RHCP fashion.
The new single ‘Desecration Smile’ was released to radio recently and is already the #3 most added single - destined to be another massive hit for the RHCP.

Last week, the Chili’s collected 4 Grammy Awards from 6 nominations for; ‘Best Rock Album’ - Stadium Arcadium, ‘Best Rock Performance’ and Best Rock Song – Dani California. Plus Best boxed/limited edition package for Stadium Arcadium.

IF YOU LET THIS MUSIC TAKE YOU BY THE HAND, IT WILL TAKE YOU FLYING THROUGH SKIES OF SOUND! YOU ARE FREE! CLOSE YOUR EYES, OPEN YOUR MIND AND LET THIS MUSIC IN AND YOU WILL SEE THAT THIS IS TRUE.
