Solstate is an Auckland based rock band formed some 18 months ago around the talents of former Savant guitarist Troy McKubre. Following the break up of Savant (1 album, 2 top 40 singles and loads of live shows) Troy decided he wanted to explore his own songwriting and lead vocalist abilities.

When Troy re-connected with award winning producer Chris van de Geer (Stellar*, Carly Binding, Tim Finn, Revolver, Savant etc) a studio based recording project began, enabling a more modern approach to rock/metal by bringing industrial and electronic elements into the tracks. With Troy writing, singing and playing the songs and Chris capturing the anthemic guitars, drums and vocals plus directing proceedings from behind the mixing console this collaboration has proved an instant success.
Chris' fellow Stellar* band mate Andrew MacLaren has contributed drums and programming while singer Boh Runga has lent her deft songwriting skills on several of the songs.

The first song released to radio was "Alright Now" which reached #7 in the NZ Rock Radio Charts, a fantastic first up success. This and several of Solstate's other tracks have also grabbed the attention of super producer Ben Grosse (Marilyn Manson, Filter, Breaking Benjamin, 30 Seconds to Mars, Sevendust).

"Against & With" is the latest single from Solstate and is currently being played on The Rock and was included on July's NZONAIR HitDisc. Feedback to the track has been extremely positive so far and this radio single is also making its way up the NZ Rock Radio Charts.

Video's for the singles "Resist" and "Against and With" have also received airplay on NZ music TV.

Solstate has evolved since late 2006 into a fully-fledged band. Troy enlisted two of his former Savant band members Dave Clarke (drums) and Garret MacRae (bass) plus Tim Robertson and Darren Crowe (guitars) to help him transform the album to the live arena. Solstate will be playing live shows starting October 2007 while continuing to record the debut album.

Solstate has recently been signed to ToneTonic Records. ToneTonic is a recent arrival on the NZ label scene. A boutique label set up by Chris van de Geer (engineer/producer) and Joost Langeveld (programer/producer), Solstate is their first signing.
