Finland’s finest return to NZ with their message of love and doom…

H.I.M. descended upon New Zealand in the autumn of 2006, bringing their Finnish thunder to a sold-out St James Theatre.

In the autumn of 2008, H.I.M. are set to return to Auckland’s Powerstation, touring what is being proclaimed as their “heaviest, creepiest, and sexiest” album yet.

H.I.M.’s sixth studio album Venus Doom is the follow up to the platinum selling Dark Light, and demonstrates a significant leap forward for the band and a toughenin-up of their sound. “We recorded the album during the winter, so that could be one of the reasons it sounds a bit gloomy and doomy. In Finland, it’s always dark and super cold,” says frontman Ville Valo.

“That’s the direction we’re heading; heavier, doomier, and gloomier, and it’s great to tour that kind of stuff”.

Since the band’s first album in 1997, H.I.M have steadily risen to the higher echelons of success worldwide with their gothic-tinged, atmospheric hard rock,, self-described as “love metal”. They are the the first band from Finland to sell over 500,000 records in the US; have hit the top 20 across Europe, America, and Australasia; have been consistently championed by Jackass’ Bam Margera; and recently completed a tour with Metallica, as well as a travelling festival with Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, and Placebo.

Demand for tickets for H.I.M is certain to be huge, and as a sell-out is expected quickly, fans are advised to get in quickly.
