September 25th -27t The Surf Snow Cup TM provides an exciting new direction for board riding - pitching pros against the punters in a dynamic new event made for TV.

Strap in and get ready for an exciting new concept of board ridding competition. The Surf Snow Cup “ King of Cross Over’ brings some of Australia and New Zealand’s top surfing and snow boarding talent to the shores of Brighton Beach Christchurch and the slopes of Mt Hutt New Zealand this September. For what is sure to be some of the hottest surfing action and some of the coolest snow boarding combined into one high octane contest to crown the “King of Cross Over”

The Surf Snow Cup is a two day event aimed at pitching the highest quality surfers, snow boarders and specialist cross over riders to see who will be crowed “The King Of Cross Over” This event aims to show case some of Australasia’s best snowboarding talent in one of the Southern Hemisphere’s premier riding destination Mt Hutt, as well as presenting a world class standard of surfing to one of the South Islands foremost surfing destination Brighton Beach Christchurch. At the completion of two days of full on competition The Surf Snow cup will decided who can master both disciplines well enough to be crowned “The King Of Cross Over” and earn the respect of both sub cultures.

September 25th 2008 will see Y surf Club Brighton beach host a 48 man format surfing contest that allows armatures in the field to compete against pro surfers and pit there skills in the water against the best. The contest is completed by a one day slope style event on Mt Hutt September 27th. This competition is open to any body that wishes to enter and gives the opportunity for amateur surfers and riders to compete against; pro surfers, snow boarders and specialist cross over riders for the chance at $10,000 worth of cash and prizes.

This exciting format will see two separate rounds to each discipline. The first round will be an open round 48-man competition for each of the snow and surfing events. This 48- man round will allow anybody to enter the event and will eventually narrow the field to the top 8 riders for each of the disciplines. On each day of competition the event will the take on a 16 man format comprising of the top 8 rider from the open format and 8 invitees or pro riders that will be selected from within the ranks of the industries elite riders. The contest will be scored in a tally combination with the top 16 having the opportunity to battle it out to be the Surf Snow Cup winner and crowned The “King of Cross Over.”

The Festivities only just begin at the completion of the Surf Snow Cup The Blue Pub Methven will be hosting a huge evening of extreme entertainment worthy of such an event. The night’s festivities will kick of with an open rail Jam held right in the front of the Blue Pub. 24 meter rail parks will b erected with the best seats in the house being on the deck of The Blue. The rail Jam kicks of at 6:30pm and is open to all competitors of the Surf Snow Cup as well as any young riders who think they can match it with the big boys. But that’s just the beginning. The Samuel’s bar at the Blue Pub will be hosting a VIP After party doors will be opening at 8pm with the winner’s presentation kicking the night’s proceedings at 8:30pm. The presentation will be followed up with a Fashion show showcasing some of the winters must have items to keep you looking the part on the slopes next season. But that’s just the beginning a Ripper night of live music will kick off at around 10:00pm featuring three hot live acts including local Methven rockers Doppler, Dunedin sensations the Julian Temple band and to see the night out the headline act GOODNIGHT NURSE. Rowan, Joel, Sam and Jaden have just completed a very successful tour of Australia promoting their new album. The Blue Pub Proudly presents this one off South Island show. Defiantly one of the finest acts to come to Methven this winter season and not to be missed. This line up of live music will be one of the parties to remember. Tickets will be strictly limited for this one and available soon from the Blue pub and other venues to be announced. This weekend will truly be one of the 101 must do weekends so don’t miss out!
