Freddy Fudd Pucker

“There is no career. Maybe it’s some sort of "anti-career"? I often travel a lot between shows and it’s awesome to make ends meet as far as travel costs and stuff but I don't think it’s ever felt like work. Truly... If it ever does, I think it’s time to try something else... ” – Dunedinmusic(dot)com interview.

Freddy Fudd Pucker is a white male with a guitar. He thinks that sounds pretty boring. He grew up in north Dunedin but has, in recent years become somewhat of a ramblin’ boy. Often found dwelling somewhere in that southern triangle of Dunedin, Wellington and Melbourne, if not touring anywhere else.

He plays “folk/punk” songs (he kinda prefers to call it ‘profanity-folk’). In 2006 he released his first full length, self titled album. In 2008 he released a 6 song EP in a paper bag with condoms thrown in for good measure. He has toured Aotearoa and Australia extensively over the last 4 years.

He is about to release his second full length entitled “Filth Standing on a Soap-Box”: A 14 track CD attached to a short, magazine-styled book full of illustrated rants about a young man struggling to deal with the idea of his peers embracing “young professionalism”, political apathy and selfishness. A genuine solo effort; he wrote, played, recorded, produced and mixed everything on this album.

Freddy Fudd Pucker is embarking on another swift tour of Aotearoa in June to flog off a few of his new albums before heading to the US for 3 months of intensive touring of basements, living rooms, car parks, “punk” clubs and galleries. The tour is a chance for Freddy to experience how arts co-ops, house shows and general DIY/punk ethics and counter-culture are being applied in a bizarrely money obsessed society.
