Biogs

KiILLAQUEENZ are one of the most promising Hip Hop acts coming out of Australia right now. They are renowned for their high energy shows and unrivalled dedication to the art. Hailing from Uganda and Belize, Kween G and Belizean Bombshell draw inspiration from their respective homelands to bring a fresh sound to the Australian Hip Hop scene.

Their live performance consists of rhymes, beat boxing, dancing and the raw energy that only KQ can deliver. The result is a show that leaves you wanting more and saw them nominated for Best Live Performance at the inaugural ‘SMAC Awards’ which was presented by FBI Radio and Time Out Magazine in late 2008.

Recently voted as ‘Best Local Hip Hop Act’ in 3D World Magazine and currently signed to Grindin’, they will be releasing their debut album ‘Sistarhood’ in April 2009.

DJ K-NOTE has supported the likes of 50 Cent, Sean Paul, LL Cool J (Guvernment Warehouse), Lil Kim, De La Soul, Black Eyed Pea’s ,The Roots (Summer Love B.C) and was requested to be the official tour Dj for Shaggy’s Australian Rumba tour nationally, tour DJ for the Outlaws (2Pacs Group) and djing exclusive parties for the likes of Lil Jon, Paris Hilton and Avant. K-Note has his ear to the street. K-Notes genres of music are fiery sets of old and new school Hip-Hop, R&B, Dancehall, Soul/Funk and Garage.

Dick Johnson

As a teenager Dick ‘Magik’ Johnson landed his own room DJing at Manchester’s legendary Hacienda club, before long he was producing tracks for Cream’s Olympic label, New Order’s Pleasure Recordings and Manchester’s Paper Recordings collective. From there he launched his own highly respected label Shaboom, releasing artists such as UBU, Joeski & Onionz, Fred Everything, Doc Martin and DJ Sneak.

Other releases of late include ‘Scanning For Viruses’ on Jesse Roses' Made to Play, ‘Eastern Lights’ on Nic Fanciulli’s Saved and ‘Asylum Sneaker’ on King Unique's Curfew label. Along with releases on such influential imprints as Made To Play, Twisted, End Recordings, Saved, Underwater, Paper Recordings, KG Beats and NRK/Honchos and his own digital label Majiktrax.

Prolific in the studio his catalogue of remixes include The Crookers, Spektrum, Worthy, Ian Pooley, Crazy Penis, Dj Sneak, Joey Negro, Q-Burns, Human League, Neon Heights, Nick Holder, Darko Esser, The Bionics, Onionz, The Karoshi Brothers, 30HZ and Bassnectar.

Content with confinement to his Auckland studio? No. It’s a rare weekend indeed that Magik is not behind the decks electrifying a crowd of dedicated followers, testing these tunes on dance floors from Russia to Argentina and most points in between.

Nick D

Be it on the radio on George FM Breakfast, on his Television series 'Making Tracks' or on dance floors across the globe, Nick D's passion for music runs far and wide. Nick's been lucky enough to see a bit of the world, and has a veritable swag-bag of exotic madcap party sounds he's picked up along the way - from the Nordic Space Disco of Lindstrom and Todd Terje, butt-shaking Baile handpicked from the favelas of Brazil, to the new African clubs sounds of Kwaito, Kuduru and Coupe Decale, and of course a healthy dosage of sub-bass and sub-genres from every other nook & cranny of the globe thrown in for good measure. A Nick D set is like heading out to your local pub for a night out, having a few too many Caipirinhas, waking up on a beach in Antigua next to a 6 foot tall Nigerian man in a pink tutu, and a cute gypsy girl trying to steal your watch. Kinda.

The ARC

Auckland Renewal Collective made up of DJ Scratch 22, Legal Money Mike, and Joel Coombs. All together bringing a hot and sweaty live show of Balitmore club, kuduro, electro and indie rock.

DJ Marek

Windy Wellington hip-hop DJ. Marek makes up 1/3 of the Fried Chicken Sound System. He’s a resident DJ at Good Luck club and a massive party pimping booty pumper!

Yam Jams

Yam Jams is all about buddies acting up, to a soundtrack that aims to please. Elbo-E started Yam Jams to find an audience to play all of the weird U.S. vinyl he was buying back in 2006 with DJ Manaia Toa aka Splash. When Splash decided to travel to Germany to chase a girl, Elbo-E's good friend and "Lets Dance" resident DJ Rohan St Clair stepped up to fill in and never left. Yam Jams now has morphed into something quite special, playing everything from early house, rare grooves, lush NY dance and Hip Hop and Booty Bass, always focussed on making you dance.
