The Smart Dogs have a new trick .

Back again after July’s night of pure afro-funk heaven with a very special guest.

Fri 21st August at The Waterfront Bar, Marine gardens, Raumati Beach. 10.00pm

Imon Star (Son of Taj Mahal and Front-man for Olmecha Supreme and Rhombus) will be master of ceremonies for what promises to be a legendary night. Don’t miss out!

The Smart Dogs are players from the Black Seeds and members of celebrated Wellington supergroup The Eggs (whose alumni include Fat Freddies Drop, Olmecha Supreme, Twinset and Rhombus).

Throw James Brown and Nigerian afro-beat legend Fela Kuti into a room together and what you get is Afro-Funk, a style of music that spread like a viral dance-floor infection through the clubs of Africa in the 70’s. Now it’s here!
