A Christmas Romance
Posted: Tue Sep 15, 2009 3:33 pm
Showcase Entertainment Group, the concert promoter of the USA SuperGroup TOTO, '60s Beat Group GERRY & THE PACEMAKERS and other leading NZ shows is pleased to announce a heartwarming and spectacular new show for the 2009 Christmas season.

A CHRISTMAS ROMANCE
starring
‘MR SUNSHINE’ BRENDAN HORAN,
‘VOICE OF RARE BEAUTY’ YULIA
and very special guest
‘ENTERTAINMENT LEGEND’
JOHN ROWLES

‘A Christmas Romance’ is a romantic evening of beautiful songs combined with fine dining which will be performed as a concert during the Hamilton Theatres annual ‘Christmas at Clarence Street’, at Clarence Street Theatre. This is immediately followed by shows in three of our main centers' most exquisite 5-star hotel ballrooms including Auckland’s 'Rendezvous Hotel', Wellington’s 'InterContinental' and Christchurch’s 'Hotel Grand Chancellor'.

We warmly welcome a new summer season with popular entertainer BRENDAN HORAN previously seen nightly on New Zealand’s Television screens as the TVNZ Weather Man. Daytime life is a beach for ‘Mr Sunshine’ who is having the time of his life delighting audiences with a return to his roots as a Singer/Entertainer. Brendan is in high demand amongst NZ's CEOs and event organisers and is a popular personality with charities such as Hospice. When he's not performing at a number of large scale private events around the country you might bump into him paddling kayaks along NZ's surf beaches with old friends, such as Ian Ferguson.

The former male swimsuit model and athlete ‘Mr Sunshine’ who has modeled with Kathy Ireland, Pauline Polinsky and Elle McPherson for 'Sports Illustrated' Magazine, possesses an endearing romantic voice with a casual ‘beach’ charm which is sure to warm hearts this summer. His wonderful onstage charisma will alight fans aglow with comparisons to the ‘big voices’ of Sinatra, Presley and Tom Jones as he brings on the sunshine. These are the first public dates Brendan has announced to share his bright entertainment and glowing personality with the NZ public.

New Zealand’s own Pop-Classical Crossover star YULIA’s Cinderella rise to the top of NZ music charts at the tender young age of 18 after very humble beginnings in her native Russia, has been well documented and is an amazing story. Now aged 23, with an amazing NZ record breaking 'first' for her two ‘back to back’ number one hit albums, Yulia presents sophistication rarely heard from female solo vocalists. The newly trained 'voice of rare beauty' (and now power) has been re-classified as a Mezzo-Soprano with a developing four octave vocal range which has yet to reach it's peak. Yulia possesses a rare capability to perform a wide range of popular styles from Classical to Jazz as reflected in her three radio hits 'Into the West', 'Angel' and 'We're All Alone'.

Yulia is widely recognised as a World-class entertainer and has earned rave reviews and standing ovations at the first of her new concerts in 2009. She has previously performed with Russell Watson, Ivan Rebroff, Amici Forever and Englebert Humperdinck to name a few. Fans of Yulia’s teenage No. 1 hit album ‘Into the West’ and sophomore album ‘Montage’ will love the passionate, sophisticated and exotic beauty which Yulia has become. With an ability to sing in 9 different languages and a lullaby-like warmth of vocal performance, Yulia’s adult voice now presents a feminine vocal power that is amongst the very best in the ‘Classical Crossover’ genre. Yulia looks forward to sharing the stage with her very close personal friend Brendan Horan.

Very special guest for the Hamilton, Auckland and Christchurch shows is legendary entertainer JOHN ROWLES. Rowles, New Zealand’s first worldwide chart success with ‘If I only had time’ and widely known for his Kiwi Classic ‘Cheryl Moana Marie’ will join the show hot on the heels of a triumphant ‘Comeback Concert’ he will perform in Hawaii due to hugely popular demand at Honolulu’s Hawaii Theatre on November 8. With the health issues that caused his early departure from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ behind him and a clear bill of health, John's feeling fitter than ever and has toured both New Zealand and Australia in 2009. The legendary entertainment icon now 62 is enjoying a purple patch of popularity 40 years on from his first chart success both in New Zealand and abroad, and with a new project in the works with Supergroove’s Karl Steven, don't rule out a return to the top of the charts. That's how John Rowles!
