Music Industry Unites For Tsunami Benefit Concert Posted: Tue Feb 8, 2005 7:40 pm The local music industry is responding to the Boxing Day tsunami disaster by uniting to produce Live At The Springs, a benefit concert on Sunday 27 February at Auckland’s Western Springs Stadium. Live At The Springs will feature some of New Zealand’s biggest chart-topping artists including Scribe, Salmonella Dub, Che Fu, Misfits Of Science, Shapeshifter, Nesian Mystik, P Money, Pluto and The Mint Chicks. Tickets for the all-ages event are priced at only $20 (+booking fees), with admission free for children under 10. This charity fundraiser represents an impressive collaboration between local artists, suppliers, promoters, Vodafone NZ Ltd, the Vodafone New Zealand Foundation and music industry organisations such as the NZ Music Industry Commission (NZMIC), the Recording Industry Association of NZ (RIANZ), the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) and Independent Music NZ (IMNZ). “The effectiveness of music and musicians in fundraising and the support of worthwhile causes is an international phenomenon. The New Zealand Music Industry Commission, as I’m sure our musical community at large, is very pleased to be able to offer support to this extremely worthwhile initiative.” - Richard Thorne, Chairman, NZ Music Industry Commission Many New Zealanders have already donated to the cause. However, there is still a considerable need for on-going support as the relief effort moves into the medium and long-term phases to provide key infrastructure such as sanitation, water, housing and schools. Profits from Live At The Springs will be distributed to UNICEF and the NZ Red Cross to help fund their relief efforts in affected areas. Tickets: On sale now for ONLY $20 + booking fees at Ticketek, Real Groovy, Sounds stores or by texting ‘LIVE’ to 858 from Vodafone mobiles. All ages event. Free admission to children under 10. Gates open 11am. Licensed bar & food stalls. http://www.liveatthesprings.com |
