UK based group Ghostclub will be visting their home country to play three rare shows during April 2005.

Formed during 1996, The Ghost Club was an offshoot of the popular Flying Nun band, the 3Ds. The Ghost Club was originally a project that dealt with a quieter, more acoustic style in contrast to the 3D's more wayward and demented rock circus.

Denise & David moved to live in London in 1997, & have carried on with their music making using The Ghost Club as their platform. The sound has gone up a few decibels & another member joined the crew; Jim Abbott playing bass, Denise Roughan on drums & David Mitchell on guitar. Essentially all the elements of the 3Ds are there, but in a more stripped down aural assault.

DAVID MITCHELL has been playing music since he was able to crawl to the guitar, & has been in many New Zealand bands (the Exploding Budgies, Goblin Mix, Plagal Grind, Chug, the 3Ds) as well as collaborating with a wide variety of other musicians (Trash, the Magick Heads, Peter Jefferies, Graham Jefferies, Chris Knox, Sandra Bell, Alastair Galbraith & playing guitar on the new Muttonbirds album). The songs that David Mitchell has written have ended up being played on videos, during television shows (Neighbours, Shortland Street, Home & Away, Topless Women Talk About their Lives), & throughout the movie release of Topless Women Talk About Their Lives. David also currently plays guitar with The Mean Streaks.

DENISE ROUGHAN has also had an intense involvement in New Zealand music. She was one of the guitarist/songwriters in the legendary Dunedin band Look Blue Go Purple, & wrote the beautiful feline anthem; Cactus Cat. She has sung on many other artists' recordings including Graham Jefferies (the Cake Kitchen), Micheal Morley (the Dead C), Chug & even helped out live with the American band, Pavement! After joining the 3Ds, Denise took up playing the bass, also joining The Renderers on the same instrument. In Ghost Club Denise now swaps between playing bass and drums. JIM ABBOTT has played music since swapping his bicycle for a drumkit aged 15, and has played with many little known garage bands, such as The Worst, Toad, and The Jellys. Now he shares responsibility for bass and drums with Denise in The Ghost Club.Ghost Club's first album Ghostclubbing is out on Flying Nun.
