Indie-pop band Park Rd are a band really hitting their stride, with no sign of slowing down.
Today the Auckland based 5-piece are dropping Control, their first single of the year. Produced by Josh Edmonds, Control is the kind of song that will make you crank the radio right up, and a great addition to the bands releases that have racked up a whopping 1.11 million streams on Spotify.
This is the first song in the next chapter for Park Rd, with a more polished sound to meet the bands success over the past 6 months.
About the song lead singer Tom Chamberlain says, “it is about new beginnings. In the song, I’m waking up from a dull muddy period of my life and feeling like I’m seeing things for the first time. I’m rediscovering my wonder.”
The video, created by Connor Pritchard and with thanks to NZ On Air, was filmed around Auckland City on Super8 motion film.
Park Rd was formed while studying together at Titirangi Rudolf Steiner in 2018. Their full line-up is Tom Chamberlain on vocals, Angus Hampton Carr on lead guitar, Leo Crawshaw-Bond on guitar, Carlos Martin on bass, and Te Kapua Pene on drums.
Lead guitarist Angus Hampton Carr says that Park Rd is about being together, as a band and with the community around them. “We put a lot of love into our songs and we have a lot of fun writing them as a band, but the highlight for me is the being able to play shows and feel everyone there coming together and having a blast with something we created.”
