Live electronic outfit Shapeshifter announce 'Rituals' album release shows for Aotearoa

30 April 2021 - 0 Comments

Live, electronic, five-piece, party-starters Shapeshifter has today announced their new LP Rituals release tour for Aotearoa. Presales open Thursday, 6lth May with general on sale open Monday, 10th May.

Following up on headlining tours of Aotearoa, and a summer of sold-out festivals, the future-shocked soul outfit are set to perform new material from their album Rituals out July 9th.

Brand new album singles, Roxxy and Ritual
anthems that have been destroying dancefloors all summer are out today.

Shapeshifter says:
"We wrote Rituals all across Aotearoa before Covid took hold of the world. Recording, production, and mixdown took an unexpected turn because of global lockdown and the album ended up a little different than what we originally anticipated... and we are very happy with the result! We've had to wait much longer to share this than we had anticipated due to the general chaos we experienced last year as a crew... so our excitement about releasing the new music is pretty high!"

Record-breaking New Zealand tours, scene-setting appearances at festivals like Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Big Day Out and Parklife, sold-out performances across Europe, multiple music awards, four EPs and five LPs — three with platinum sales — and an army of fans who return to relive the experience time and time again.

These are just some of Shapeshifter’s towering achievements.

The five-strong lineup of PDigsss (vocals), Sam Trevethick (guitar/synths/sampler), Dan McGruer (synths/sampler), Nick Robinson (bass/synths) and Darren Mathiassen (drums) have created their very own heavy soul; a stadium-sized sound which adds layers of drum & bass, jazz, funk, rock and electronica to solid bass culture foundations.

Originally hailing from Christchurch, the future-shocked soul outfit’s music is crafted by a living, breathing band of musicians, with all the form-changing sonic possibilities live instrumentation offers.

“The essence of Shapeshifter live is that we are completely 100% un-sequenced -no laptop click track. We play 'off the grid' using analogue and digital synthesizers.” Sam Trevethick.

Off the grid and out of this world, from the clubs to packed festival fields, Shapeshifter’s transcending sound has already seen them achieve extraordinary things.

Now with their 7th studio album finished and set for release July 2021, the innovative band continues to solidify their status as New Zealand’s premiere live electronic outfit.
