Eccles Entertainment are stoked to announce Aussie surf-psych legends Ocean Alley will make their long-awaited return to New Zealand this September. Touring in celebration of their 2020 album Lonely Diamond which debuted at #6 on the NZ Top 40 Album Chart, Ocean Alley will play their biggest headline run of New Zealand, featuring the most elaborate production Kiwi fans have seen.
"It’s been a couple years since our last headline shows in New Zealand and so we’re super exited to be heading back across the ditch to play some huge shows in both the North and South Island. We are stoked to tour a new show with songs from all of our records as well as a new light show and live experience and we hope you can join us at some of New Zealand’s best live music venues.” – Mitch Galbraith, Ocean Alley
Beginning at Dunedin’s Town Hall, followed by Town Hall in Christchurch then hitting Auckland’s Spark Arena for their biggest New Zealand headline show yet, the tour will wrap up at Michael Fowler Centre in the capital. This will be local fans first chance to experience Ocean Alley’s ARIA-nominated third album Lonely Diamond in the flesh.
Needing little introduction to Kiwi audiences, Ocean Alley have quietly been building their passionate Kiwi fanbase. With little airplay to date in New Zealand, their previous headline tours have sold out well in advance, including two consecutive nights at Auckland’s renowned Powerstation in 2019. Ocean Alley have played some of New Zealand’s biggest festivals including Rhythm & Vines, Rhythm & Alps and Soundsplash, and in 2020 they played main support on the Six60 Saturdays tour at both Western Springs Stadium and Forsyth Barr Stadium.
With multiple New Zealand Gold and Platinum certifications in the trophy cabinet, Ocean Alley have spent the past decade creating a unique lane for themselves as a proudly independent band; their vision and sound guided solely by their instinct and passion. This immense DIY momentum shows no signs of slowing down yet.
2020 saw the band debut at #6 on the NZ Top 40 Album Chart with their critically acclaimed third album Lonely Diamond, garnering four-star reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone and NME. It follows the success of 2018’s breakthrough Chiaroscuro which saw the six-piece propelled into international prominence with their NZ platinum-certified single Confidence that took out #1 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2018.
Joining Ocean Alley on all dates are Australian garage rock royalty Hockey Dad. Growing up as best friends on the NSW South Coast, the duo made up of Zach Stephenson and Billy Fleming have carved a name for themselves on both sides of the Tasman thanks to their high-risk party jams. Their most recent album Brain Candy (2020) debuted at #2 on the ARIA Chart and saw the boys take their high energy show on the road for a colossal 22-date tour of Australia. New Zealand audiences can expect a spirited set from Windang’s finest sons.
Despite sold out international tours and major festival appearances including Reading & Leeds (UK), Splendour In The Grass (AUS) and Sziget (HU) under their belt, plus more than 400 million catalogue streams worldwide, Ocean Alley are still constantly pushing their own boundaries and defying expectations of what their music can be. Don’t miss out on seeing Ocean Alley on their biggest New Zealand tour yet this September!
