Good things come in threes - Te Whanganui-a-Tara’s favourite indie-funk band Club Classic is thrilled to announce their three part funky saga, being released in three stages over the course of August and September.
Known for their intense, energetic live shows they once again enlisted the brilliant Toby Lloyd of Tiny Triumph Recordings to capture and distill their wild sounds into a more refined selection of tunes fit for every stereo system.
Releasing first is Interstellar, a space themed bop about a protagonist’s disquiet about the city they live in. Sticking true to their funk origins, a driving bass line is incorporated with ethereal keys and guitar, melodious vocals wrapped up with some punchy drums. You’ll be as over the moon about Interstellar as we are.
Up next is the smooth Pop hit Last Chance Dance. This slow, funk rooted ballad is influenced by many R&B hits, with vocalist Joe masterfully crafting an intense set of harmonies behind his wilting, longing melody line. Last Chance Dance will also have a stunning solo-dance music video, choreographed and performed by long time friend of the band Molly O’Hagan, ensuring Last Chance Dance as your next favourite Club Classic song.
And finally, the incoming bop of the summer: Top Down. This funky, upbeat number will have you on your feet and chanting along, all while hanging out on the beach - or, as the song suggests, playing that funky guitar. The strong repeated guitar riff drives this track forward and is guaranteed to stay in your head for the whole summer!
The EP is being released in 3 parts: Interstellar: 6th August, Last Chance Dance: 20th August and Top Down: 3rd September
You can catch these new songs being played live at the ‘Greetings from Club Classic’ tour, hitting Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland during the month of September at Moon on the 3rd, Darkroom on the 11th and The Dogs Bollix on the 17th - tickets available now: https://linktr.ee/clubclassicband
