Six60 Saturdays triumphant return in 2022!

27 October 2021 - 0 Comments

Today the news everybody has been waiting for is confirmed. Six60 Saturdays is back for 2022.

Beginning in 2019 playing to 50,000 fans at the history making sell out show at Auckland's Western Springs Stadium, the Six60 Saturdays tour has grown exponentially. Earlier this year, the band played six shows throughout New Zealand including two stadium shows and four green fields, selling over 175,000 tickets. In true Six60 fashion, 2022 sees the band going bigger once again announcing six massive stadium shows across Aotearoa. This is the first time any artist has embarked on a 100% stadium tour throughout all of New Zealand. This. Is. History.

‘We are absolutely stoked to be bringing Six60 Saturdays to stadiums in 2022. For us, we constantly want to better ourselves, and raise the bar on what we have already done. To be playing six stadium shows on this tour is huge. It not only sets the bar for ourselves, but we see it as a challenge to international acts too. There’s so much more to a New Zealand tour than just playing one or two cities. Kiwi’s support live music better than anywhere else in the world. We love playing at home and we’d love to see more international acts play shows of this scale all around the motu.
We cannot wait to see you all at Six60 Saturdays The Stadium Tour” – Six60

For the first time ever, Six60 Saturdays will come to Rotorua with the first show of the tour being played at Rotorua International Stadium. This will be a monumental occasion for the region with fans from all over the Bay of Plenty, the Waikato and other parts of the country sure to attend.

Six60 will then cross the Cook Strait to Te Wai Pounamu, playing their hometown - Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium followed by OrangeTheory Stadium in Christchurch. The tour then heads back up north to bring Six60 Saturdays to the Wellington Sky Stadium for a second year running, before Six60 pave the way once again as the first ever live concert at Napier’s McLean Park.

Six60 Saturdays then wraps up at New Zealand’s national stadium Eden Park. This will be the second time the band have played Eden Park within a year after the boys were the first ever band to headline the stadium at their record breaking sell out show in April.

Last Friday saw the 10 Year Anniversary release of Six60’s debut (Gold) album. In that time, Six60 have gone from flatties at 660 Castle Street, playing house parties for their mates to household names selling out stadiums throughout NZ. The Gold album alone has spent a combined total of four and a half years in the NZ Top 40 and is 9x Platinum. Producing anthems such as Don’t Forget Your Roots, Rise Up and Forever, the singles on the album make up a whopping 14x certified platinum. Fans can expect a special celebration of this album at Six60 Saturdays 2022, with the classic sing along songs they have known for years played alongside brand new music from New Zealand’s biggest band.

2021 has already been a monster of a year for Six60. Their latest single Pepeha (cert. Gold), their first bi-lingual song debuted at #1 on the NZ Singles chart and has held strong at the top since release. Earlier in the year they headlined the biggest tour in the world playing to a record breaking 175,000 fans across NZ on their Six60 Saturdays tour including the first ever concert at Eden Park. Their most recent album Six60 (3) has been certified 5x Platinum and has spent over 80 weeks as the #1 NZ album. The band are currently in the USA having just played two headline shows in LA and New York and recording a new album, before criss-crossing their way across to Europe playing their first international shows since 2019.

Not content with rolling out the same show each year, the Six60 boys have been working with the world’s best production and lighting teams to up the ante once again for 2022. The scale and magnitude of these shows is next level. Anyone who was at one of their shows earlier this year will understand how truly epic the stage show is. The visuals and music go hand in hand taking fans on a journey of Six60’s catalogue of hits, creating an experience to remember forever.

With rumours of a new album floating around Six60 Saturdays 2022 is set to be one that fans will never forget. Be there.
