Gig & Concert News - Fin Rah Zel Drop New Single & Video 'Power'

Fin Rah Zel Drop New Single & Video 'Power'

17 December 2021 - 0 Comments

Rising Taranaki four-piece band Fin Rah Zel today release their new single Power, an uplifting track infused with a gentle groove to soothe the soul and calm the mind.

A musical salve for these turbulent times, Power delivers a deep, heartfelt melody combined with a smooth R&B feel, set to lower the temperature as we finally emerge from our lockdown shells to reconnect with whanau, friends and community.

Power is a song that speaks about our internal struggles in life, and how we can overcome many things with a change in mindset from within. Fin Rah Zel hope that the message in the song can help release any tension that people may be feeling during these unsettling periods.

“This song is all about self-empowerment, and getting through those tough times”, says the band. “We can all have a hard time expressing our true feelings, and males, in particular, tend to walk through life with armour on, in an attempt to live up to the expectations of others. Hopefully this song provides a moment of emotional freedom and an uplifting experience for all the dudes out there.”

But the roller-coaster COVID ride of 2021 hasn’t caused Fin Rah Zel to slow down – in fact, quite the opposite! Taking everything in their stride, the band have been consciously making the most of it by recording new music, and are now starting to string some summer show dates together for 2022.

Power was recorded at Brian’s Egmont Village studio, the aptly named Fin Rah Zel Studio, in the shadow of spectacular Mt Taranaki. Co-produced and mastered with the magic skills of talented Auckland-based producer William Henderson, Fin Rah Zel are also super-grateful to have had the valued guidance of Tiki Taane, whose expert advice pushed the band to sonically elevate the song to another level.

Originally a solo act, Fin Rah Zel lead singer Brian Norton, formed the band in February this year when he was asked to open for Sons Of Zion - and he hasn’t looked back since. “The songs have way more impact with the energy and input of the other guys,” says Brian. “Also, since we all share the same values of community, connection, and nature, it feels more powerful as a band. So they’re integral to Fin Rah Zel now.”

When the guys aren’t playing music, you can find them pursuing uplifting and energising activities that they can then channel into their music - adventuring somewhere on the Mount Taranaki trails and scenic walks or surfing the waves off the stunning Taranaki coast.

In the meantime, Fin Rah Zel continue to schedule more summer shows, and with their sights firmly set on making some waves in 2022, look forward to carving their musical niche in the world.
