Aotearoa, award-nominated singer-songwriter Kendall Elise has unveiled the thought-provoking new video to her single Honest Hand, released off her recent album Let The Night In. Alongside the video, Kendall will be performing to a sold-out audience in Auckland tonight as part of her Let The Night In national album release tour.

Made with the help of NZ On Air, the video was directed by queer, indigenous director Amber Beaton. Visually inspired by silent films from the 1920's - such as the film adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula - ‘Nosferatu’,
which were often set during the Victorian Era, the video is a nod to a time of much anxiety and fear around things such as scientific progress, female empowerment, queerness and foreign influence; fears which have many parallels to the modern day.
“The song itself was written about the way people react aggressively and to fear and uncertainty, and how that can be amplified online,” explains Kendall. “ I feel the video is a light hearted way of demonstrating that the same things
have been feared and debated throughout the ages. However, time shows that the arc of truth and justice will always prevail.”
Set at Ferrymead Park in Ōtautahi, the video features a range of actors, including musician Adam Hattaway as the Snake Oil Salesman.
“He brought such a wonderful chaotic energy to the part; I love his scene.”
