Taking a sharp lefty turn from the indie-rock slush meets Neil Young soar of California, while still retaining his essential sound, Al Park goes full country on this woozy weeper.
He’s not trying to break new ground on this one - they're not blazing 'the trails' or reinventing any wheels. This is classic 50's/60's country ballad goodness, though as it treads the line of that old school style, Park cannot help but bring something fresh to the genre with his deep Kiwi twang and a line that embodies all the heartbreak and longing that Lefty, Hank, and George sang of. At the same time, it brings a totally new twist, a new idea, a new slant with Running Away From A Broken Heart - the second single from the forthcoming album Pony.
Along with this single release comes another music video filmed and directed by Christchurch filmmaker Allan (Woll) Walley.
