After a beleaguered summer for the events industry, music fans are invited to return to see some of Aotearoa’s best artists perform a free live show at Mt Smart Stadium’s boutique new venue - Lilyworld on Sunday May 8, 2022.
The Veils, Bic Runga, Nadia Reid, and brilliant new talent Arahi complete the lineup for Lilypad, the first of a new show series located at Mt Smart’s Lilyworld. Lilyworld is a new space created as a throwback to the Lilyworld area at beloved music festival Big Day Out.
Lilypad’s lineup includes internationally acclaimed alternative act The Veils, who wowed crowds on their nationwide 2021 Nux Vomica tour. Led by vocalist Finn Andrews in various iterations over the last 18 years, The Veils are renowned for their electric live performances.
Bic Runga, one of the most celebrated contributors to the proverbial Aotearoa songbook, with hits including Sway, Drive and Good Morning Baby, will also perform. Most recently known for her work in King Sweeties with Cass Basil (Tiny Ruins, Carnivorous Plant Society, Marlon Williams), Bic is NZ music royalty and this is a rare opportunity to see her live.
Described by MOJO magazine as "a New Zealand singer-songwriter you'll feel you've known forever”, Kōpūtai indie folk star Nadia Reid never fails to deliver with her arresting lyrics and stage presence. She's taken people's breath away with her music the world over, winning acclaim for tunes like Call The Days, Richard and Get The Devil Out.
Completing the first Lilypad line-up is Hawke's Bay artist Arahi, a stunning up-and-coming songwriter and performer who is currently recording his first album with long-time Reb Fountain collaborator Dave Kahn (also Marlon Williams, The Veils, Tami Neilson, Dianne Swann) at the helm as producer.
New to Penrose, Lilyworld is the only venue of its kind in the area, also boasting a garden bar, private function space, and café.
Attendees are invited to register for their free Lilypad ticket via Moshtix (to a maximum of 6 tickets per person), by making a donation of their choosing to the music charity MusicHelps.
This is an all ages, family friendly event.
This event is proudly brought to you by Auckland Stadiums and Auckland Unlimited.
