Te Kaahu’s live recording captured for Rolling Stone Australia: In Your Room is now available on streaming platforms.

The Rolling Stone live session was recorded at The Lab in Tāmaki Makaurau and features three exquisite stripped back versions of the waiata E Taku Huia Kaimanawa, Rangirara and Taupiri - all from Te Kaahu’s critically acclaimed debut album Te Kaahu O Rangi.

“What I love about this session for Rolling Stone is the vulnerability and tenderness with which the waiata are delivered. I hope that people enjoy hearing them like this as much as we loved performing them,” says Theia (Waikato-Tainui, Ngāti Tīpa), who created the Te Kaahu project as a platform for her compositions in te reo Māori.

The album has resonated with audiences around the world and last week took Te Kaahu to Brisbane for Australia’s leading new music festival and conference. The Te Kaahu waiata E Hine Ē is also a Top 3 finalist in this year’s prestigious APRA Maioha Awards.

Te Kaahu and band will perform at The Yard in Raglan on Saturday, October 8 and at the Māoriland Hub in Ōtaki on Saturday, November 12.
