Currently in the midst of a hectic nationwide tour, selling out shows across the country, Dunedin’s finest - Summer Thievesreturn with new music!

The first taste of their upcoming new album, Tongue & Cheek and the B-Side, Pieces, are out now.

Listen HERE

Tongue & Cheek and Pieces both feature on their forthcoming album, which is set to be announced in the coming months.

The tracks see the band lean into the eclectic sound they’re known for with Tongue & Cheek guaranteed to get the party started. Built around catchy guitar lines and vocal hooks it shines a light on the band's playful energy they’re known for on and off the stage.

A progression from their most recent single, Saturday Nightthe track is groovy, sexy and with a little bit more spice and an edge to it.

“The song is about the idea of a fantasy or an imagined intimate relationship with whoever or whatever you may desire,” says the band's lead singer Jake Barton.

“We recorded a majority of it at a bach in Whitianga where we've written and recorded a large amount of our new album. We worked on this one with our good friend Allister Meffan, who we've been working with quite closely for over a year.”

“We want people to feel that this is a fun song, but also quite sassy and sexy. Hopefully people will listen to it and get warpy, let ya hair down, be weird,” Jake says.

Set for release this summer, the new Summer Thieves album weaves seamlessly through pop, rock, reggae and funk while staying true to the band’s sound that has won fans over across their massive summer shows in New Zealand and Australia.

These two singles arrive shortly after the release of the bands second album Paradise Down The Road which saw Summer Thieves push their sound into new and different spaces, all-the-while maintaining the energy that has garnered them an ever-growing following.

In the thick of their current tour, Summer Thieves take the stage in Wellington tonight at San Fran and then The Powderkeg in Ohakune on Saturday.

The following week they hit Christchurch’s Mono on Thursday September 22;  Catacombs in Dunedin on Friday September 23 and Yonder in Queenstown on Saturday September 24.

The band are also joining L.A.B for two of their massive summer shows - not to be missed.

Catch Summer Thieves with L.A.B, The Black Seeds, Katchafire, Bailey Wiley and Aacacia at the Wharepai Domain in Tauranga on Friday December 30. TICKETS
