Gig & Concert News - ABG announces new EP, 'bar is low'

ABG announces new EP, 'bar is low'

14 October 2022 - 0 Comments

In between tours and releases with their other projects (Recitals, Soda Boyz), ABG has been quietly refining and testing their sound in venues and on releases like Big Fresh Collective's annually anticipated Footmahi compilation.

The EP draws from an eclectic sonic palette; field recordings and home-recorded vocals and guitars sit comfortably alongside drum machines, synths and chopped up samples.

The lead single, chickpea, is a prime example of this, pairing oozing vocal cuts from Faith Evans' Love Like This with a garage-tinged beat to create something organic but instantly danceable.

However, each track takes this palette in wildy different directions. The EP closer, bump, takes us further into territory hinted at on their Footmahi track, Party Pie, cranking breaks up to 180bpm over glitched-out bedroom vocals and guitars.

The EP is available via Bandcamp and all streaming services this Friday 14 October.

You can catch ABG at Swampfest 2022 this Saturday 15 October. Pre-sales available here.
