20 October 2022 - 0 Comments

The Others Way Festival returns this Saturday to take over Tāmaki Makaurau's Karangahape Road district, with 30 acts scheduled to perform across 8 stages.

Today, the festival adds Aotearoa songwriter Finn Andrews (The Veils) performing a special solo set, and Auckland's psychedelic jazz gang Carnivorous Plant Society. Unfortunately, the previously announced Maxine Funke and LEAO are no longer able to perform.

Earlier this week, the festival revealed its hotly anticipated timetable, and an exciting new outdoor stage on Galatos St.

Don't miss out on Auckland's most exciting music festival and street party of the year. Ticket on sale via Flying Out and Undertheradar.

THE 2022 FESTIVAL LINEUP

The Others Way Festival 2022 line-up includes legendary NZ band Dance Exponents for a very special performance celebrating the upcoming 40th Anniversary reissue of their chart-topping debut studio album Prayers Be Answered. In addition, Aotearoa music icon and hip hop pioneer Che Fu and the Kratez make an unmissable Others Way debut performance, while festival favourite Nadia Reid returns to entrance audiences this October, along with Anthonie Tonnon off the back of his 2022 Taite Music Prize-winning album Leave Love Out Of This.

Stellar internationals on the bill include; Brooklyn songwriter and guitar virtuoso Steve Gunn (USA), prolific Los Angeles beatmaker MNDSGN & The Rare Pleasures (USA), and acclaimed Sydney-based musician Laura Jean (AU).

More music from some familiar names; early 80's New Zealand ska-punk pioneers Newmatics. Onehunga-bred hip hop collective, SWIDT are set to drop electrifying beats and bars. Plus The Coolies, once described by Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore as "punk no-wave sonic heartstring buzzing clatter rock n roll".

Post-punk band Daffodils join the festivities, along with DJ and performer Vanessa Worm, renowned percussionist and production wiz Julien Dyne (Avantdale Bowling Club), and Theia's reo Māori project Te Kaahu. Don’t miss Wellington’s ever-popular garage pop act Hans Pucket hosting their infamous Midnight Karaoke Challenge where you too can live your popstar dream, fronting the band with a song of your choice. Sign-ups opening soon, with limited spaces!

Celebrated artists from all corners of Aotearoa are set to perform; heavy psych-fuzz two-piece Earth Tongue, dream-fuzz group Mirror Ritual, indie outfit Soft Plastics, and melodic noise rockers Bleeding Star, all hailing from Pōneke/Wellington. Plus Ōtepoti/Dunedin's psych-pop artist Juno Is.
