Wellington's Welcomer are pleased to be releasing their third single The Summit.

The Summit is a collage of sound and memory. Set against an idiosyncratic Wellington, New Zealand backdrop of mouldy curtains and gorgeous views, the song offers a lilting reflection on aging, mortality and impermanence. Autotuned vocals and distorted synths interspersed acoustic guitars echo the layering of the digital into our analogue lives. Beginning in the evening with a tipsy stop outside a deceased relative’s former house and ending in the morning, it dwells on a future day when someone might do the same.
Welcomer is a 5-piece based in Wellington, New Zealand, centred around main songwriter Miles Sutton, who writes intricate, raw and beautiful pop songs. Their first single, Cicadas 3, was a Student Radio Network favourite, reaching #1, as well as making #18 on the NZ Top 40 Hot NZ Singles chart. With wry and melancholic lyrics, and a swooning duet chorus, the song chewed over forgiveness and blame, and not being able to let go. Wry second single A Steely Dan Covers Band saw the band sell out Wellington's Pyramid Club for the release show. The unsteadiness of memory as a theme has continued through these three singles and will be the central theme of the band's EP, out November 25th.
The Summit is available on streaming platforms and Bandcamp via Papaiti Records.
