The three-day music and camping festival opens in the afternoon on Thursday, December 29 2022, when 10,000 partygoers and 6,000 campers start to stream in over the iconic Cardrona river. The Campground stage is set to kick off the first day of the summer festival with garage, techno, bittersweet house and D'n'B from around the globe programmed from 2 30 pm - 11 pm.
December 30th sees UK underground bass duo De-Tu launch the new Sonarchy stage. This is New Zealand's most dynamic new stage incorporating video and laser mapping, a first for Aotearoa. This unique design will measure 28m wide and 11m high and is set to include performance aerialists and pole dancers across the festival. Newcomers indie surf-rock group Flaxxies will open the Alpine stage, and the godfather of D'n'B, Andy C will close it. The Log Cabin will be presented by wāhine and non-binary agency Sugar & Spice, and the Boombox is running from 4 pm until 4 am with some of the hottest, local, electronic acts around.
New Years Eve, December 31 in Wanaka sees a stacked, first class programme featuring; Molly Payton, Marlon Williams, Sampa The Great, Dope Lemon, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, KORA and Dimension (DJ Set) on the festival's Alpine Stage. The influential Log Cabin takeover will be presented by Aotearoa's most respected house and techno label Beat And Path, and both the Sonarchy stage and the Boombox will take festival-goers into dawn on the 1st.
From when the gates open on December 29 until the last act finishes in the wee hours of January 1 2023, Rhythm & Alps will be filled with thousands of good humans for the hottest kiwi summer indulgence in music and celebration.
