Brother Sister Announce EP 'On A Roll' And Share Lead Single '3am'

01 September 2023 - 0 Comments

Electro-pop band of siblings, Brother Sister, bring their passion for the sound and style of throwback 80's culture to their new EP On A Roll releasing September 22, 2023.

“We hope the listeners will be reminded of that feeling they had when they watched a PG rated 80's movie for the first time in their youth” says Brother Sister.

Dave Thomson (synth & lead vocals), Taz Thomson (bass and lead vocals) and Ben Thomson (drums) make up the energetic trio Brother Sister. They have shared a womb and now share the stage to deliver unapologetically nostalgic sounds of 80's cartoons and cinema. Pulsing keyboards, programmed drums, driving bass and dueling melodic hooks are expertly blended to take listeners back to the future.

On A Roll is Brother Sister’s third EP, following the release of Push My Buttons in 2016 and SSDD in 2019.

The lead track 3am releasing today delivers their unique style of uplifting electro-driven synth pop. “3am is a journey through a time of confusion and frustration” shares Dave. “Those times when we lose ourselves and our sleep to a spinning late night mind and things we do to try and hold it together.” Dave wrote the lyrics after experiencing a challenging time in his life. “The hopeful feeling of the bouncing synths aside the frustrated lyrics reflects on how things are once you are on the other side of a difficult time, able to look back on it with fresh eyes as if watching it through a fun 80's movie montage.”

The accompanying music video is a pee-wee Herman inspired one shot video, produced by the band and directed by singer Dave Thomson. “We have been up until 3am building props and gathering our 80's toy collection for this one. Filming a one take has a lot of challenges and we had to run really fast while the camera wasn’t on us so we have been getting fit for our tour”.

On A Roll is playfully centered around the theme of moving on - discussing the things we all go through during challenging times and what we do to push through. The band share “the lyrics reflect on the things we tell ourselves to lift our mental health and keep moving forward, be it fantasy, fact or acceptance.”

“For us this EP has been a fun journey and emotional outlet which has allowed us to celebrate our passion for 80's nostalgic soundscapes and memorabilia in keeping with the bands theme but branching into new sounds and textures we have been itching to use.”

Brother Sister are well known for their fun, punchy and irresistibly danceable live sets. Fans will be thrilled to hear, Brother Sister will play an EP release tour:
