Indie-folk troubadours, Albi & The Wolves announce their long awaited third album Light After The Dark, due for release 13th October 2023 (AAA Records). While the album retains the band’s iconic foot-stomping anthems and brooding melancholic ballads, it has taken the band to a whole new level of genre crossing tunes. Their new single feels slick, has a gripping hook and a swagger that’s not been felt in their music previously.
The band teamed up with TeMatera Smith from AAA Records who encouraged the band to experiment during the recording process. A process, thanks to the Pandemic, that took just under two and a half years to complete.
Next To Me feels like the bands most contemporary song to date and may be the furthest form folk that they’ve strayed before. Chris Dent teamed up with two writers, Jason Herbert and Geoff Ong, before taking the track to Micheal and Pascal and the band are sure you’ll notice their influences.
“I remember our discussions when we were writing this track and how it fit into the rest of the record, and our repertoire on the whole. The general consensus was let’s lean into this direction and really push the boat out. However you feel about it, it’s definably different for us. Hopefully folks dig it.”
The accompanying video clip tells the story of the band and a dancer existing in two different universes, so close, yet so far from one another. The dancer moves gracefully in slow motion while the band move at standard speed. TeMatera Smith directed the video and set out to make something beautiful.
