Fans of heavy music, here is a treat for the weekend: Taranaki's Infinity Ritual release their new single Earthdriver today. It's hard to pin down their sound, but the band describe it as a groove metal wall of noise, with solid doses of rock, doom and stoner rock.

If anything, Earthdriver is heavier than anything they've done before, and is a good taster for their EP simply named II, which is out on Friday November 3rd.

Infinity Ritual vocalist/guitarist Adam Colless says of the song, "Earthdriver is about the contemplation of existence. The anxiety of dealing with the reality of living in the world and coming to accept that we are all on one giant spaceship hurtling through space. So don’t be anxious – enjoy the ride"

Earthdriver began as two different riff-heavy songs which eventually merged to create one monster. The recording process for Earthdriver (and the whole EP) started with drums alone. It was a new approach for Rhythm Ace's studio maestro Sam Johnson, as he had to wait for the layers to be added over subsequent sessions to discover what the song was going to become.

In October, Infinity Ritual join Beastwars, Shepherd's Reign and more as part of New Plymouth's mighty Reign Of The Beast line-up, celebrating Beastwars' new mind-melting album of Aotearoa covers, Tyranny of Distance.

Jumping to November, Infinity Ritual will be playing shows to celebrate the release of their own new EP, II.

Infinity Ritual will play the EP live in store, and 'II' will be available on limited edition coloured vinyl (1st 100 copies numbered and signed), CD and via streaming platforms.
