1:12 Records announce the forthcoming release of Hot Cuts, the debut album from Tāmaki Makaurau skiffle-punks Smokin' Daggers, available in store from December 1st on 180g smokey vinyl.
Featuring local godfather of growl and mangled guitar twang, Andrew Tolley (The Hasselhoff Experiment, The Bloody Souls, Bloodbags), Smokin' Daggers have been warming over the remnants of a soul food music feast for well over a decade. Recorded to tape over a single afternoon in the basement of a run-down Kingsland Villa, Hot Cuts features 11 tracks of raw rock n' roll, RnB standards, deep cuts, and originals.
The lead single is the album's opening track Agile, Mobile & Hostile, described by Andrew as "An anthem for the age, crafted in the meeting of minds from two distinct eras of Detroit rhythm & blues, and rock n' roll. Fortune Records great and reputed Motown choreographer Andre Williams, in an enlightened cahoots with primitive blues-punks Dan and Mick, of the Gories in the late 90's, given a strip and respray for the 20's".
To celebrate their release the band will be performing the LP live in Auckland on December 2nd at The Thirsty Dog, and around Aotearoa over the summer months with dates and locations to be confirmed.
