Introducing Kaurna Land/Adelaide noise-rock group Twine; Debut Tour of Aotearoa February 2024

13 January 2024 - 0 Comments

Introducing Twine, the project of Kaurna land/Adelaide artists Thea Martin (violin), Alicia Salvanos (bass), Matt Schultz (guitar), Thomas Katsaras (vocals/guitar) and Jackson Pagett (drums), the band are embarking on their first international tour to Aotearoa with appearances at Camp A Low Hum on top of sideshows in Tamaki Makaurau and Te Whanganui A Tara.

15th Feb: Tamaki Makaurau, Wine Cellar with Swallow The Rat and Ringlets

16th - 18th Feb: Camp A Low Hum Weekend 1

20th Feb: Te Whanganui A Tara - Meow, Camp A Low Hum Official Side Show

22nd Feb: Te Whanganui A Tara - Moon 1 with Keeskea (AU) & TBC

23rd - 25th Feb: Camp A Low Hum Weekend 2

Drawing inspiration from experimental ‘90s bands including Unwound, Slint, and The Dirty Three, with an honest songwriting approach comparable to alt-country staples such as Jason Monila and David Berman, at the heart of Twine’s practice is a commitment to creativity and experimentation. Delving deep into the complexities of existence, the mess and clamour of their instrumentation are met with soft passages of meditative lyrics and violin.

The latest offering from Twine, My God, provides a sneak peek into the forthcoming album set for release in mid 2024. The track was recorded live with Jon Mcnichol at Twin Earth Studio, with mixing courtesy of acclaimed US sound engineer Alex Farrar (Wednesday, Snail Mail), who sought out and approached the band directly, as a fan, to work with them.

Twine's New Zealand tour follows a successful string of shows across Australia, sharing stages with Mclusky (UK), Dust (AU) and showcasing at Bigsound 2023. The band have been herald for their live performance and are sure to leave a lasting impression on Aotearoa in February.
