Brooke Fraser returns home to New Zealand for an Unforgettable Night of Music with the Auckland Philharmonia orchestra

19 February 2024 - 0 Comments

Brooke Fraser, one of New Zealand's most celebrated artists, is set to perform a one-night-only concert with the Auckland Philharmonia orchestra at Spark Arena on June 22.

This event promises to be an unforgettable night of music, featuring the hits from Brooke's solo albums set in new arrangements commissioned specially for the seventy piece orchestra performing with her.

Expressing her excitement, Brooke says, “I feel utterly honoured to have the opportunity not only to play some of these treasured songs again, but also to bring them to expression in a brand new way through this collaboration with the Auckland Philharmonia. There isn’t another experience that compares to playing these songs on the soil and amongst the people in whom my music first found its home and springboard two decades ago. I am so grateful to have spent my life making music, and hope that this night is a special and moving experience for anyone and everyone who has been part of giving me this gift by supporting my music for so long."

Brooke Fraser's acclaimed career is highlighted by her 2003 debut album What To Do With Daylight, which reached eight times platinum in New Zealand, and the worldwide hit Something in the Water from her third album Flags.

She's achieved five number one hits on the Radioscope 100 airplay chart and won the 2007 APRA Silver Scroll for Albertine. Brooke is also a multiple recipient of APRA’s Most Performed Work awards in New Zealand and overseas.

With nine Aotearoa Music Awards, including International Achievement, and multiple international platinum awards for Something in the Water, Brooke's commercial success is evident over a career spanning six Brooke Fraser albums. Under her married name, Brooke Ligertwood, she is a multi-Grammy winner with over 7 billion streams worldwide.

Joining Brooke at Spark Arena will be the full Auckland Philharmonia orchestra with conductor Hamish McKeich.

The Auckland Philharmonia is an internationally renowned orchestra based in Tāmaki Makarau. Hamish McKeich has forged an impressive international conducting career alongside a passionate loyalty for developing the repertoire of contemporary and experimental music. He is the Principal Conductor of the NZSO and Royal NZ Ballet and has performed all over the world.

This one-night-only concert promises to be a remarkable experience, showcasing one of New Zealand's most prolific artists in her element.
