Silcrow Shares New Single 'What Am I' from self-titled EP

14 June 2024 - 0 Comments

“Silcrow excited me on first listen. Lorenzo Hazelwood’s songwriting and voice captures the essence and spirit of the Seattle scene of the 90’s, but with a completely modern take. I’m very much looking forward to producing Silcrow." - Jay Ruston, Los Angeles, Record Producer

Auckland’s own heavy grunge rock band, Silcrow, is proud to announce the release of their final single, What I Am, from their much-anticipated self-titled 7-song EP. This powerful track is dropped on June 7th, 2024, and promises to deliver the raw, unfiltered sound that fans have come to love.

What I Am encapsulates the essence of Silcrow’s musical journey, blending gritty guitar riffs, thunderous percussion, and soul-stirring lyrics. The song delves deep into themes of self-identity and defiance, resonating with listeners who crave authenticity in their rock music. Vocalist Lorenzo Hazelwood describes What I Am as a captivating and personal version of what a great rock track should be in 2024.

Silcrow's EP has already garnered attention for its unapologetic sound and lyrical depth, drawing comparisons to the grunge legends of the 90's while carving out a unique niche in today’s rock scene. Each of the seven tracks has taken listeners on a visceral journey, from the explosive opener Keep The Silence to the hauntingly beautiful Ethereal.

The release of What I Am marks the culmination of this artistic venture, offering a final, poignant chapter to the EP. Fans and new listeners alike can expect a fiercely personal and universally relatable track, embodying the band's signature style.

Silcrow’s debut EP was recorded, produced, and mixed by Scott Seabright (Mumford and Sons, Six60, OpShop, Fat Freddy’s Drop). Scott's skill and experience helped shaped the band's studio sound and push them into new territories.

"What I Am similarly moves from emotionally drenched crooning to more traditional grungy rock n roll. Fantastic use of vocal layering and melodic interludes work exceptionally well, with Oscar Miller’s short but sweet guitar solo a masterclass in how to provide a song with exactly what it requires." - Muzic.NZ
