Te Whanganui-a-Tara’s fast rising Menzies unleash their hotly awaited debut EP Spaghetti Land, following the success of two singles 8/10 and the much lauded Spaghetti Land music video, accompanied by a 4-stop tour of Te Ika-a-Māui this July.

Vicious, heartfelt, raw, and unwavering, Spaghetti Land doesn’t hold back. This bold 5-track debut draws you in and keeps you there from start to finish. Hot breath down your neck.
Menzies, the gripping new post-punk four-piece bring scores of talent and experience, featuring magnetic front-man Chris Brown (Friendlies), Miles Sutton (Welcomer, Prizegiving), Doug Kelly (Girl Boss), Nikita Piper (Friendlies, Androgynous Lemon). The EP was mixed by Oliver Devlin (Hans Pucket), and mastered by Tui award winning Vivek Gabriel, Gabriel Audio.
This unruly debut canvases a wide terrain, and the band sounds equally comfortable with gentle as they do raucous. The EP launches in with the crunching title track Spaghetti Land “it’s mee goreng again in Spaghetti Land!”. In the middle is the gorgeous, earnest 8/10, “I went to the toilet, came back and he was gone”, and it closes out on the distorted frenzy of Sun & the Stars, where Menzies really show their teeth. Musically, the arrangements are both beguiling and diverse, but it’s how they’re entwined with Brown’s lyrics that really holds attention.
“The core tenet of Menzies has been to have as much fun as we possibly can.. And we’ve done this so far! I think you can hear it in the music and see it in our shows. We can’t wait to play these songs in new locations to new people” says lead singer Chris Brown.
