Gig & Concert News - Rema and Jorja Smith Join Eden Festival Final Line-Up

Rema and Jorja Smith Join Eden Festival Final Line-Up

18 July 2024 - 0 Comments

The final acts for this year’s Eden Festival are now in place with two international stars – Afrobeat singer, rapper, songwriter Rema, and UK singer-songwriter Jorja Smith – joining the one-day festival’s huge line-up of international and Kiwi performers.

Nigerian Rema is set to make his Aotearoa debut with his viral and mainstream banger Calm Down, one of the biggest songs of 2023, and its remix with Selena Gomez the highest-charting African song on the U.S. charts ever.

The Rema and Selena Gomez Calm Down video has had 915 million views so far and counting:

It’s going to be an epic moment when this belter of a tune is performed live to 20,000 fans in Auckland on October 12 and Jorja Smith already has a proven Kiwi fan-base for her raw songwriting and soulful-hypnotic vocals.

A further attraction is special guest hosting duties by UK YouTuber and musician Yung Filly who has 1.75 million subscribers.

Festival director Emal Naim, of FestCo Events, said the exciting new additions have a combined fan-base of over 15 million people.

"These hot attractions join the unchanged line-up announced earlier, making it an even bigger one-day festival," Mr Naim said.

“The new acts will join the packed line-up of YG Marley, Lauren Hill’s son and grandson of Bob Marley, Grammy award-winning R&B artist Miguel, Brooklyn rapper Busta Rhymes and more local and overseas stars.

“The festival will feature some Afrobeats heavy-hitters, including the crowned Queen of Afrobeats Tiwa Savage, Beenie Man, Shenseea, plus reggae favourites Kolohe Kai and Spawnbreezie.

These performers will be joined by NZ stars Stan Walker, A.R.T., Jujulips and Nelz. Other local acts include Nokz, Oni500, Wstrn Guide, Tiara, K Swiss and Poppajax.

Eden Festival will be supported once again by partner Mai FM, NZ's largest urban contemporary radio network promoting Māori language and culture and broadcasting hip hop and rhythm and blues.
