RockMusic + Workshops + Your Own Band = An Awesome Holiday Experience!
Join us at ZEAL for the Wellington School of Rock JULY HOLIDAY MUSIC PROGRAMME – all musically minded teens are welcome - places are limited and registration is open now!
This unique week long music programme includes three rehearsal sessions at three hours each, which will give participants fantastic opportunities such as meeting young musicians of their own age, jamming, creating and learning new skills and techniques.
We will match up players into 6 – 15 piece bands. The young people get to know each other and jam in a structured environment. This gives players a chance to work on professional rock band skills including rehearsing, learning cover songs, and stage performance.
This term the program also features work shops in the following:
An introduction to the art of recording and sound production given by high calibre local engineers, which will leave students with a recorded demo process of their session.
Mel Packer from Weta Guitars will instruct on stage safety and guitar technical set up, illustrating the know how for how to prepare and look after the instrument. He is a reputable guitar designer and technician with a vast knowledge in music.
Dayle Jones a specialist in Drama Coaching and Media Production will give a session on performance, costume and stage presence. Teens will gain an extra boost for their live performance Friday night. Dayle runs drama classes and works as a producer at Radio Access giving many young people their start in drama and radio.
We are housed by the ZEAL Youth Facility at 103 Ghuznee Street, which has recently had a reconstruction made possible with generous funding from Wellington City Council and Department of Internal Affairs.
This Wellington School of Rock Holiday Programme has been supported by funding from Wellington City Council - which enables us to place 15 at risk students in the programme free of charge.
The programme ends with a big finale concert on Friday 9th July, at ZEAL.
All parents, family and friends are invited to attend at a minimal cost of five dollars each.
